Fans of 'Jersey Shore' want to know: Why is Snooki's husband, Jionni, never on 'Jersey Shore'? Does his absence mean the two have split?
From 2009 to 2012, one of the best parts about Thursday nights was being able to settle in bed with a salty snack and Jersey Shore. Now that there's the Family Vacation spinoff, Thursday nights are back to being a great time for GTL (gym, tan, laundry).
It's been fun to grow up along with the gang and see how they've matured. Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, in particular, has gone from party girl to wife and mom. Now that she's a family woman, people wonder why her husband Jionni LaValle is never on the Jersey Shore spinoff.
Why is Jionni never on 'Jersey Shore'?
When Jionni stopped appearing on Jersey Shore, people began to speculate that he and Snooki were headed for divorce. However, this is not the case!
In January 2018, Jionni announced that he had decided not to be featured on the show, or its offshoots, anymore. In a now-deleted post to Instagram, he wrote, "Hey Guys, I'm going to visit this subject one time and one time only so...."
"My wife is filming a scene packing up and leaving for her new show to start and I AM CHOOSING TO NOT be on TV because I simply DO NOT like it," he continued. "Nicole and I are doing great and became even stronger together while raising our beautiful kids. HOWEVER you will not see me on her reality show."
He went on to say that he's busy with his job and fully supports Nicole being on the show. The decision was just based on his priorities and comfort levels with being on TV.
It's clear that Jionni doesn't enjoy being in the spotlight and prefers to keep his life private.
Jionni's absence from Snooki's social media photo grid also popped off divorce rumors, but the Jersey Shore star set the record straight on that, too, in a January 2019 interview with Us Magazine.
"Jionni just wants nothing to do with the spotlight and I’m like, ‘Babe, when you marry me, sometimes we got to take pictures together,'” she said. “He’s like ‘Nah, I’m good.’ I feel like, when people don’t see us together in pictures it’s like, OK, something must be wrong.”
In an Instagram post from November 2021, a few fans noticed Snooki that wasn't wearing her wedding ring. Quickly, divorce rumors began to burn through the internet once again, but per The Sun, Snooki subtly addressed the rumors by taking a few follow-up photos with her wedding band on.
Later that same month, she posted a sweet note to social media in celebration of her seventh anniversary. Her husband shared the photo to his own social media, writing over it, "Happy Anniversary to the best wife and mother I could ask for."
Despite Jionni preferring to keep his private life private, he does post to social media about day-to-day life with his children.
Jersey Shore: Family Vacation airs on MTV, Thursday at 8 p.m. EST.
