June 2024 · 6 minute read

Through hard work and dedication, Maribel Aber who is no new face on TV has successfully carved a niche for herself in various fields but is famous for her exploits in journalism. Having worked with various big organizations in different capacities over the years, Aber has undoubtedly established herself as a force to be reckoned with.

A native of Virginia, Maribel was born on November 29, 1976. Besides the fact that she was bred in her hometown, there is little or no information about Aber’s early life. But if her social media accounts are anything to go by, it is safe to say the journalist was raised by her parents and shares a strong bond with them. The journalist first obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia before moving on to bag a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from New York Law School, focusing on securities and financial markets.

Working With NASDAQ Prepared Aber for Her Journalism Career

Maribel Aber successfully carved a niche for herself in the business and financial field before moving on to journalism. Fresh from college, she launched a career in the finance industry specializing in securities regulation. She began with the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (currently known as FINRA) and quickly moved on to NASDAQ where she served in different capacities and rose through the ranks.

Aber joined the company as an associate director but after establishing herself as a formidable force in the field in a short while, she was promoted to the position of the vice chairman’s chief of staff barely a year later. Maribel did not rest on her laurels but continued with her impressive performance and was later promoted to serve as NASDAQ vice president.

It was in 1995 that Maribel Aber graduated from the University of Virginia. That same year, she began working for NASDAQ, a company that offers financial services located in New York. Although the corporation’s operation revolves around offering financial services, Aber’s duties as its Vice President prepared her for the tasks she would execute as a journalist in years to come.

She hosted the company’s televised Opening and Closing Bell ceremonies which aired live on popular networks like Fox Business, CNBC, and Bloomberg. In addition to that, she conducted interviews with visiting CEOs and dignitaries. These and a great deal of the rest of her commission at NASDAQ were journalistic.

Joining Meredith Corporation Further Pushed Her Towards Journalism

Aber’s time with NASDAQ lasted from 1995 to 2009. In September of the latter year, she began working for Meredith and her duties there further pushed her from the financial sector to journalism. Her work at Meredith majorly revolved around writing and contributing to the weekly segments of Your Money for Better TV. She held this position for over a year, from September 2009 to January 2011.

Meanwhile, from December 2009 to March 2010, Maribel worked for Experian as a financial and credit expert. Like the other positions, her responsibilities at Experian were also journalistic. She was hired to help consumers understand the vital role of credit in their lives. To fulfill this purpose, Aber had to create webisodes, conduct interviews, and embark on media tours.

Maribel Aber Embraced Journalism When She Started Working for Next New Networks and Comtex News Network

With the journalistic experience she had gathered over the years working in the financial sector, it was predictable that Maribel would embrace a career in journalism in years to come. This happened in June 2010 when she began working for Next New Networks, an online media, as the host of MSN FilmFan.

She hosted the weekly movie review show co-produced by MSN and Next New Networks until January 2011. While at that, from July 2010 to March 2011, Aber worked as a freelance anchor and reporter for Comtex News Network. At Comtex, she interviewed guests, presented on-air news segments, assisted in production, and served as a writer and editor.

Maribel also worked as a host and producer for The Broadway Channel, covering red carpet premieres, press junkets, and what have you. In the same capacity, she served Wall Street Week from October 2010 to February 2012. Here, Aber was mainly seen interviewing securities industry experts, money managers, and financial advisers on investment strategies and market dynamics.

Maribel Aber has been working as a correspondent for CNN since February 2012. Apart from being a business correspondent for CNN Newsource, she regularly features on Weekend Express and Morning Express with Robin Meade on HLN, a news channel owned by CNN. Working for CNN, Aber is admired for covering the economy and financial sector in such a way that highlights how it affects ordinary citizens. Such ability came from the experience she gathered over the years working with various media outlets.

Before joining CNN, she worked as the host of BrainFuel TV for Movie Loft Productions. She hosted the syndicated TV show that offers insight on entertaining and educative websites and TV programs for schools and homes from October 2011 to February 2012.

Almost within the same time, she served M&A TV as a business anchor. In that capacity, she reported on key industry issues and interviewed market makers amongst other responsibilities. Prior to that, Maribel worked for FVMG as a freelance host and on-camera talent. Also, she was a host and contributor for AOL.

Maribel Aber Is Married to Robert E. Aber

The CNN correspondent is a pretty private woman. While there may be information readily available about her professional life, the same can’t be said of her personal details. So far, the journalist has largely kept information about her love life under wraps.

There are no records of her dating history and this left an air of mystery around her relationship status for a while. At some point, it circulated that she is in a romantic relationship with a fellow named Bruce Reynolds, this was never confirmed in any way.

While it is presumed in some quarters that the journalist is not and has never been married, we can confirm that she is married to Robert E. Aber.

What We Know About The Journalist’s Husband

There are reasons to believe that Maribel’s relationship with Robert dates back to when she worked for NASDAQ. This is so because when the journalist worked for the corporation as vice president of the corporate client group, Robert served the same organization as the senior vice president and general counsel.

He would later work for Skarven Enterprises, Inc. New Jersey as general counsel and corporate secretary. Aber’s husband has also served as the senior vice president of Kestrel Enterprises, Inc. and to the best of our knowledge, he’s currently the executive vice president and general counsel at Yippy, Inc.

Given her private lifestyle, it is difficult to ascertain if she has any kids yet with Robert or if plans are underway to have any in the near future.
