A 51-year-old man has been taken into custody after Queensland police uncovered an alleged meth and magic mushrooms lab in the garage of a suburban Brisbane home.
Detectives from the Synthetic Drug Operations Unit charged the man with possessing dangerous drugs and possession of drug utensils after a search warrant was executed at a Tarragindi address on July 29.
The police will allege a trapdoor in the living room led to the drug lab hidden in the garage.
The police will also allege the lab was used to produce methylamphetamine and psilocybin
The man is expected to appear at Holland Park Magistrates Court on August 2.
Drug and Serious Crime Group Detective Inspector Bradley Phelps said the lab exposed the offender, innocent neighbours and members of the community to “significant” health risks.
“It raises significant health concerns not only for the alleged offender, but for innocent neighbours and vulnerable members of our community who may end up using these drugs down the track,” he said.
“This arrest is another example of the dedicated work underway to take these dangerous and highly-addictive drugs off our streets and keep the community safe.”
Investigations remain ongoing.
