With the release of their sophomore album approaching, The 1975 released yet another single off of “I love It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It”. This single is titled: ‘Somebody Else’.
This song has been a fan favorite and highly anticipated to release since the band played it during their last tour during the winter. Fans have been listening to the live version nonstop but are now able to have the beauty that is the studio version.
‘Somebody Else’ is definitely a more stripped down song compared to the more pop and upbeat songs we’ve been hearing off the new album like ‘Love Me’ and ‘The Sound’ but it still has a cool funk to it that makes you want to groove with it. The song is a ballad about a partner in a rocky relationship moving onto someone else. The chorus reads:
“I don’t want your body but I hate to think about you with somebody else. Our love has gone cold, you’re intertwining your soul with somebody else.”
Some pretty deep stuff. Mix those lyrics with Matt Healy’s soulful voice, and the band’s twist on funky pop beats and we think The 1975 have themselves a hit here! You can purchase ‘Somebody Else’ and pre-order their album on iTunes or take a listen on Spotify . The album “I Love It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It” releases on February 26th and is available for pre-order on their website.
