At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tyler Perry created the #HesGotTheWholeWorldChallenge and recruited numerous celebrities to help raise awareness of the virus. Now, the 50-year-old entertainment mogul has shared some of his $600 million fortune with workers at one of his favorite Atlanta restaurants.
To help the service workers during this difficult time, Perry left $500 tips for each of the 42 servers at Houston’s West Paces location who are out of work during the state’s stay-at-home order. While picking up a to-go order on Sunday, Perry left a total of $21,000 for the restaurant staff, according to TMZ.

Perry is reportedly a “big fan” of the Houston’s restaurant chain, and he has been visiting the location on Northside Parkway in the ATL quite frequently during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Governor of Georgia – Brian Kemp – didn’t issue a stay-at-home order until Thursday, April 2nd, but exempted beaches, parks, and churches. Kemp drew some serious criticism in the media when he said at the time of the order that he wasn’t aware until 24 hours earlier that coronavirus could be transmitted by people without symptoms.
As of Sunday, Georgia has 6,742 cases of COVID-19, with 219 deaths due to complications from the virus. Perry’s generous tip to the restaurant staff also comes at the perfect time, considering the fact that the $1,200 stimulus checks could take as much as 20 weeks to get into the hands of those who need them the most.

Throughout his career, Perry has been extremely generous to the city of Atlanta and is known for his charitable giving. In 2015, the mogul purchased a 330-acre former military base in Atlanta and turned it into a studio with 12 sound stages and 400 employees.
Some of the shows produced at his Atlanta studio are BET series The Oval, Sistas, and Ruthless. Perry also created OWN’s The Haves and the Have Nots, as well as Nickelodeon’s Young Dylan.
Of course, Tyler Perry is most known for the Madea character, which made her last film appearance in the 2019 movie A Madea Family Funeral. He gave the character a final goodbye in early 2020 with the stage play Madea’s Farewell.
